Everyone must have this recipe memorized. Here's my version, VERY technical.
Ingredients:
- Chex Rice Cereal (1 box)
- Butter (usually 1/2 of a stick to a whole stick depending on how much peanut butter you use...the more peanut butter, the less butter)
- Peanut butter (3/4(ish) of a 16 oz. jar)
- Semi-sweet chocolate chips (1 bag, about 2 c.)
- Powdered sugar (enough to coat the cereal to your liking)
- 1 paper bag
Directions:
- Place butter, peanut butter, and chocolate chips in microwave-safe bowl. Microwave on low heat in 30 second increments (as to not burn the chocolate chips), stirring in between. Do this until the mixture is smooth. DO NOT OVERHEAT.
- Place cereal in large mixing bowl and pour chocolate mixture over the top. Mix delicately until all cereal is coated.
- Pour coated cereal into paper bag, dump some powdered sugar into the bag as well. Roll bag down to close and shake delicately. (* Note: usually I do this outside because powdered sugar tends to escape out of the paper.)
- Repeat until cereal is coated to your liking.
- Dump cereal onto wax paper to cool.
- Place cereal into Ziplock bags and put in the freezer (important variation).
