Puppy Chow

Everyone must have this recipe memorized. Here's my version, VERY technical.

Ingredients:
  • Chex Rice Cereal (1 box)
  • Butter (usually 1/2 of a stick to a whole stick depending on how much peanut butter you use...the more peanut butter, the less butter)
  • Peanut butter (3/4(ish) of a 16 oz. jar)
  • Semi-sweet chocolate chips (1 bag, about 2 c.)
  • Powdered sugar (enough to coat the cereal to your liking)
  • 1 paper bag

 Directions:
  1.  Place butter, peanut butter, and chocolate chips in microwave-safe bowl. Microwave on low heat in 30 second increments (as to not burn the chocolate chips), stirring in between. Do this until the mixture is smooth. DO NOT OVERHEAT.
  2. Place cereal in large mixing bowl and pour chocolate mixture over the top. Mix delicately until all cereal is coated.
  3. Pour coated cereal into paper bag, dump some powdered sugar into the bag as well. Roll bag down to close and shake delicately. (* Note: usually I do this outside because powdered sugar tends to escape out of the paper.)
  4. Repeat until cereal is coated to your liking.
  5. Dump cereal onto wax paper to cool.
  6. Place cereal into Ziplock bags and put in the freezer (important variation).
You can thank me later.
